On April 16th, 2026, Wages Argott and I presented before the International Executive Board to request official recognition of the AFM’s newest players conference: the Freelance Musicians Association. Happily, the Board voted to grant us recognition!
March 2026Entertainment Union Coalition
In March 2026, President Gagliardi appointed me to serve on the Entertainment Union Coalition (EUC) alongside Local 47 President Marc Sazer. The EUC is a multi-union alliance dedicated to advocating for its members in the entertainment industry on public policy issues in California.

I was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for California for the Arts and the California Arts Advocates.
California for the Arts (CA for the Arts) champions arts and culture as essential to vibrant California communities through statewide programming, services, and advocacy networks that foster public awareness and generate resources to cultivate an equitable and thriving arts and cultural workforce sector and creative industries.
My Bio
Kale Cumings serves as the President of Musicians’ Union Local 6, bringing his dedication to workers’ rights to a career as a professional trumpet player. A union member since his first paid gig at 16, Kale represents Bay Area performers in local contract negotiations and at the state-level as President of the Professional Musicians of California. When not at the bargaining table or playing trumpet with one of Northern California’s many orchestras and theaters, Kale spends time with family and friends, reading philosophy, and enjoying sports.
